Meet Alan:

The boy that I have fallen completely in love with.
I could easily write a novel about him, but I’ll give you this: I spent an embarrassingly long time praying for God to send me my husband. I despised every happy couple I saw, and spent my days sizing up every guy I came across, wondering if it could be “him”. However, absolutely nothing came from any of it, except more sadness and disappointment. Finally, I gave up. And almost as soon as I stopped praying for him, God simply and quietly placed Alan in my life.
Surprisingly enough, we went to the same high school and had most of the same friends, but not once had we met during my four years there. I had seen him around, of course, noticing how completely beautiful he was, but too shy to do anything about it. A little over a year ago on New Year’s Eve, I was leaving a party with my good friend, Stephen. We were already in the car, driving back down the street to turn around the cul-de-sac, when we spotted Alan and his younger brother were walking toward their car. Stephen stopped and rolled down his window to say bye to them and I sat there quietly. All of a sudden, Alan stops mid-conversation, reaches his hand across Stephen to shake mine and says, “I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ve formally introduced myself before, I’m Alan. You’re Sarah, right?” I was stunned, but I somehow managed to get out a, “Yeah, nice to meet you,” complete with a dazed smile.
The entire ride home, he was all I could think about. As soon as I got home, I facebook stalked the crap out of him, and boldly decided to send him a message telling him I thought it was quite classy of him to introduce himself like that. He thanked me, and from there, we talked a bit about our similar music interests, but the conversation then fizzled out and we only talked occasionally.
A couple months later, I made another bold decision to post on his wall telling him that I had looked through almost all of his photos and thought he was the most beautiful boy I’d ever seen. Little did I notice that the next day was his birthday, so I went back and wished him a happy birthday as well. When he replied to me, he told me that I had given him the best birthday present. I was elated. From there, we talked more and more until we exchanged numbers; this began constant conversation. Then came the first date, the meeting of the parents, and more dates. Despite only being together for a little over eight months, it has honestly been the most fantastic eight months of my life.
So, ladies and gents, if you’ve taken the time to read this, remember: It’s in His hands. You may have to wait a little while for your significant other, but it will always happen according to plan.
And Alan, if you happen to read this-
You give meaning to the word love.
